Traveling exhibition

The exhibition "Look at me"

The exhibition “Look at me!” Was organized by the FreundeskreisGivat HavivaGermany eV designed and financed. It reflects a bridge-building project that has regularly been bringing young Israelis together in Givat Haviva for several yearsis primarily intended to appeal to young people, but is certainly interesting for all age groups.

The aim of this exhibition is to show the difficult relationship between Jews and Arabs in Israel and to show how the continuing education institution Givat Haviva in Israel manages to pass thousands of Arab and Jewish Israelis through year after year
Bringing the programs of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation together for joint activities and discussions that deal primarily with the different narratives of the two Israeli population groups.
In order to be able to present this convincingly, the corresponding seminars always consist of half Arab and half Jewish participants. And there are always 2 educators in front of these groups: one Jewish
and an arab. Equal composition of the groups and group leaders is very important for the authenticity of the process. This constellation is remarkable because the Arabs make up 20% of the Israeli population
but live completely separate from the Jewish majority society. Many of the course participants are speaking in Givat Haviva for the first time ever to a representative of the other population group.
In the first part of the exhibition, mutual prejudices, hatred for one another, but also fear of one another are discussed in the two entrances. In this way, visitors to the exhibition learn the completely different things
Know perspectives that both population groups have on the same, namely Israeli society.
At the front of the exhibition, where both approaches come together, it is shown how the experiences that young people in particular have in Givat Haviva lead to the distorted image that one had of one another changing and that
For many participants, the seminars in Givat Haviva triggered a learning process that is often decisive for their future lives. The Freundeskreis Givat Haviva Germany has made it their mission to
Reconciliation work that Givat Haviva has been doing in Israel for more than 50 years, to make it better known here in Germany and to support this work financially.
