Peace is more than the absence of war and violence.

"Peace is not the absence of war. Peace is a virtue, an attitude of mind, an inclination towards goodness, trust and justice."

Annual report 2019-2020 Membership and Donations

Dear visitors to our website,

we are shocked by the outbreaks of violence in Israel and Palestine. We call on all organizations to work with us to stand up for this, so that the spiral of violence can be broken.

Michal Sella, the general manager of Givat Haviva, sent us the text below on May 12th, 21st, another in English on May 15th, 21st can be found under "News".

Please help us to defuse the conflicts that are also accumulating in our country. Talk to people wherever hate speech and hate speech are being made against Jews or Muslims. Violence is not a solution! Conflicts can only be resolved collectively.

For the board of the Freundeskreis "Givat Haviva Germany eV. "

Comment by Givat Havivas

on the current outbreak of violence in the region

Givat Haviva calls on the Jewish and Arab public to the

Inhabitants of the particularly affected cities and communities as well as our neighbors in the villages of Wadi Ara to avoid mutual provocations, which further disturb the sensitive structure of the Jewish-Arab neighborhood in these places.

We call on all residents of Israel to take measures to calm the situation. At the same time, we appeal to the police to show the greatest possible restraint when dealing with public rallies.

Givat Haviva calls on the mayors of the

Arab and Jewish communities in Israel to take joint measures in the coming days to maintain public peace, renew lost trust and prevent further escalation - there is no justification for harming innocent civilians!

The political and religious leaderships of the Jewish and Arab sub-societies in Israel must work together to stop further violence and bloodshed. The involvement of political representatives of the Arab community in Israel in these efforts as well as their involvement in the future government are in our view the central instrument to calm the situation and to pacify the conflicts between the two largest social groups in Israel in the long term.

Givat Haviva calls on everyone involved, the holy places and the

to respect the religious and social customs of all citizens of Israel.

This includes in particular the requirement that the free

To guarantee the practice of religion by Muslims, Christians and Jews at these sites and to protect their rights.

It is important for us to remember that it is the aggressive pursuit

particular political interests in one of the most sensitive places in

was one of the most sensitive times of the year that the situation was in

Jerusalem has escalated and it is now threatening to set Israel and the entire region on fire again.

Givat Haviva therefore also calls on the Israeli and Palestinian leadership to return to the negotiating table immediately and to look for a solution that aims at lasting peace and is based on the right of both peoples to self-determination within the framework of two neighboring states living in peace.

There can be and there will be no peace, no security and no

Prosperity in the region give in the shadow of occupation and

Oppression, incitement, marginalization, violence and persistent

Human rights violations! Both peoples pay a high price because extreme minorities prevent the necessary compromise. The international community must act immediately to lay the political foundations that will fundamentally pacify the conflict.

The Givat Haviva team continues to work with all its experience for the principles of dialogue, understanding and integration of all parts of Israeli society and their legitimate interests. At the same time, Givat Haviva continues to work on promoting projects that serve the common interests of the Jewish and Arab communities and thus Israel as a whole.

It is time for Jewish-Arab cooperation on all

to implement social and state levels and to ensure complete and unconditional equality between Jewish and Arab Israelis. This is the only way to achieve national reconciliation and an agreement with the Palestinian leadership on the basis of the two-state solution.

For the Givat Havivas team
